I discover since a week Youtube all html5.
I've remove flash and adobe repo and Youtube play video normally. This addon can replace flash! Well, we have some bugs (lists do not work...), and other inconvenience (an other button to resize). But, generally, it work good.
It's distributed under the GPL3.
Test this, it's very good.
I have not used this addon yet, so I am not commenting on it.
RépondreSupprimerI have not used Adobe Flash or Gnash/Lightspark for more than a year in Linux system, I don't need it to access YouTube videos. It already provides webm videos if I am using Firefox or any HTML5 supported web browser, if the format is available.
Even if you don't have HTML5 supported browser or if there is no webm video, then I use cclive (http://cclive.sourceforge.net/), some great person is maintaining it in fedora repo.
It can download the required format. So no need to be restricted to one browser or system. :)
So far it works great only in YouTube. :(
Another thing I noted that if the video is converted to webm from some other format the video size increases or quality decreases. :(

SupprimerFor me, it was a very big problem. I couldn't see any video without the flash plugin... However, I used, and use, Firefox.
So this addon it a very good deal :)
The download isn't a good alternative, too long for me. Personnaly, if I want a music, I use youtube-dl, a command-line tool. It work very great!

RépondreSupprimerI don't get it! As far as I know, every streaming actually get downloaded while it's being played, the difference is the content get deleted automatically immediately after play.

In streaming, all this things is simultaneous. And you can comment the video, search an other video... It's, on my mind, better :)
